WHAT IS OPEN CALL?

A space for distinctive creative voices and fresh perspectives on clothing. The Open Call for the 15th edition of Fashion Event Dotek gives emerging designers an opportunity to present their collections to the public, fashion professionals and the media.

Submitted collections will be assessed by an expert jury. Selected collections will feature in the fashion show in March 2027 in Zlín, Czech Republic. Participation also brings creative expression together with a good cause: each selected designer will donate one look to the charity auction.

Applications will be open from 2 November 2026 to 10 January 2027.

HOW ARE COLLECTIONS SELECTED?

Collections are selected by an expert jury comprising figures from the Czech fashion scene. The jury assesses originality, creative approach, the collection’s concept, and the quality and technical execution of the work.

WHO CAN APPLY?

The Open Call welcomes students studying fashion design at secondary schools, higher vocational colleges and universities. Students from other fields are also eligible, provided they demonstrate experience and previous work in clothing design through a portfolio.

  • Applications must be submitted by 10 January 2027 at 23:59
  • Applying is free of charge
  • The Open Call is open to students studying fashion design at secondary schools, higher vocational colleges and universities
  • Students from other fields must demonstrate experience and previous work in clothing design, for example through a portfolio
  • Each collection must include a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 7 looks
  • Only collections that were not presented at the previous edition of Fashion Event Dotek are eligible
  • Applications must include a collection statement, a proposed musical accompaniment in the form of inspiration or a reference, and supporting materials: photographs of the collection, work-in-progress photographs, sketches and a mood board

  • Each selected designer must donate one look to the charity auction and send it to the organiser no later than 13 February 2027.
  • Fabrics sourced by the organiser will be available for creating the donated look.
  • The preferred size for the donated garment is M–XL. Unisex garments are preferred, particularly outer layers such as jackets, shirts and blouses.
  • The organiser does not cover the cost of shipping the donated look for the charity auction.
  • The organiser does not cover travel expenses. Exceptions may be granted at the organiser’s discretion.
  • The organiser reserves the right to disqualify applicants who do not meet these requirements.

Expert Jury

Previous jury members include Tomáš Višňovský, Nora Grundová and Liz Ovcharenko. Their experience brought perspectives from fashion design, media and styling, allowing collections to be considered from different angles. Alongside originality and a distinctive creative voice, the assessment explored each collection’s concept, craftsmanship and the way it told its story.
